īy 829 PD Lucien and his friends had been training in the Oltu Ruins for at least two years, learning the secrets of hemocraft, although they (as well as other members of the Orders) did not like the authority and strict attitude of some superiors, such as Sarenne de Chastain. At some point after that, after an argument with Auntie Mama (they had tried to help a neighbor and her abusive husband had threatened Auntie Mama for it), both of them left Shadycreek Run following Brevyn Oakbender, Auntie Mama's favorite child and a member of the Claret Orders. Cree was with him when Azrahari's debt was paid. He became friends with Cree Deeproots, a tabaxi who assured him that there was a glint around him that made him special, for better or for worse. Until that year he had been living in the street (except when the weather was poor, in which case, a local woman called Auntie Mama let him sleep on her cellar), taking occasional jobs from the local tribes, the Mardoon family being the one he tolerated best, even if he didn't like them. During that time he visited Azrahari's cottage, and despite having destroyed one of her creations, she ended up owing him a debt (since she loved ruin and he had caused it for her, luring people to her cottage), that eventually would be paid in 822 PD when the witch saved him from mercenaries of the Red Debt. She, eventually, travelled to Rexxentrum under the promise of working cleaning houses until she could find a powerful husband or lover she wrote to Lucien from time to time, and he expected to eventually move in with her when the time was right. Things got worse after Elric was killed due to a debt with the Jagentoth family, and Lucien's parents, obsessed with getting their best performer back, talked to a witch in the Savalirwood, Azrahari, who turned Elric's corpse into a strange puppet that his parents kept around at some point Lucien couldn't stay there any longer, so he burned down the caravan with his parents and the puppet inside, and he left with Aldreda.

Their parents were artists who usually played music while their children danced, sang or performed plays however, they were abusive, hitting Elric despite being the best performer, while Lucien tried to protect himself and his sister. He had an older brother, Elric, and a sister one year younger than himself, Aldreda. Lucien was born in 810 PD as the second son of a married couple of the Greying Wildlands. Lucien never slept (although he stated he did still dream), as a gift of the Somnovem, and did not blink his eyes. Like Mollymauk, he generally rejected his past life and was not opposed to being the center of attention, being notably arrogant and self-absorbed. He tended to be more charismatic, intelligent, and ruthless around others instead of being jovial and aloof. Lucien, while having some characteristics and ideals in common with his fragment Mollymauk, also had some striking differences. Two giant wings of muscle tissue grew out of his back, replacing the eye stalks. His lower body was connected to a twisted mass of flesh, eyes, teeth, stone and buildings. Lucien went through a second transformation and fused his body with the living Cognouza ward.
His body was also a lot more muscular with long, dark purple, wildly drifting hair. He had nine thick stalks growing out of his back with a red eye on each tip, replacing the eye tattoos which were now gone. Īfter fusing with the Somnovem, Lucien's body was transformed. Beneath the cloak, he wore a simple white silk shirt. When the Mighty Nein encountered him on Eiselcross, he was wearing heavy winter furs and leathers and cloaks. He had freckles in his face, and nine eye tattoos scattered on his body, which had been integrated into other tattoos that Mollymauk Tealeaf had had done while he was in control of Lucien's body. Lucien was a lavender-skinned tiefling with red eyes and curling horns.
